Departing from El Calafate, we will arrive at the entrance of Los Glaciares National Park and start our visit of the famous Perito Moreno Glacier. The glacier is as famous as it is because it is still growing and has a regenerative cycle. It will grow, creating a dam and therefore obstructing the drainage of the water from the Rico Arm to the Channel of the Tempanos. This will cause the water to rise and build up pressure against the glacier. This pressure will create a passageway, allowing some of the water to flow through. Eventually, the passageway will grow larger and it will collapse - the collapse can take up to two days. Once the event is finished the entire process will start over again! Armed with this knowledge, you are ready to appreciate the impressive glacier and the height of its massive walls. You will also be given the chance to walk along the Mirador (footbridge) in front of the glacier. At the Mirador, you can take in a magnificent view of the glacier, and create a memory you will never forget.
